weight of the day

What weighs on you today, ?

It's not a rote question.  Every day you get up and do the best you can.  Yet whatever you show on the outside, there is an inner angst - perhaps about the state of the world, your health, or a key relationship.  Maybe about feeling like no matter how much you try to do in a day, you always feel like you're exhausted or running behind.  Maybe the anxiety about how someone perceived something you recently said or did.

What is it for you?

Today, I just wanted to remind you that your struggle matters and that it is a part of your growth.  When you don't have it all figured out, can you still lean in to trusting yourself that you will find your way through?

How are you growing right now, in this very moment of struggle?  How is this moment of turmoil shaping you for the success or achievement of tomorrow?

Can you trust that your effort is not in vain?

While this is a transformation I bear witness to daily in my role as a therapist, it is also a core part of our shared struggle toward social justice.  The path is treacherous and we lose our footing, we stumble, we bear witness to the pain around us and within us.  We catch our breath, we grab a hand, we try again.

This struggle is not failure.  Millions of people are working toward the same desired outcomes - all over the country and all over the world - and just because we're not there yet does not make the journey less meaningful.

So whether you needed this encouragement today for something in your private life, or for your continued efforts to support and promote social justice in your corner of the world, please remember that your struggle is not failure.

You matter.  You can make a difference.  I'm so thankful you're here.
