We can't change the past
What do you see as the benefits and/or problems of reflecting on the past?
I often ask clients, "What have you tried before? What worked? What didn't?"
No point reinventing the wheel or banging our heads repeatedly against the same wall; we can save time and energy through this exploration.
How many times do athletes and coaches review the same tapes of the same plays to achieve greater readiness, strength, agility, and success?
Yet the argument of "We can't change the past!" seems to surface repeatedly for avoiding similar reflections on history.
Learning from the past isn't always pleasant, or easy, or quick, as any dedicated athlete is likely to convey.
However, it's an invaluable doorway that can drastically ease the route to a better tomorrow.
P.S. There is so much confusion in the media (and politics!) about teaching diversity in schools. It's often getting labeled as being an objection to Critical Race Theory (CRT) with gross misconceptions about what this actually is and what it does (and doesn't) have to do with primary and secondary education. Here's a useful video/article to be prepared in these conversations.
You matter. You can make a difference. I'm so thankful you're here.
