misinformation tools for you
Somehow, a one-hour time shift has me feeling like it's bedtime at 6 p.m. for the past few nights! So, in case you're feeling similarly exhausted, I'll get to the point!
You may want to bookmark this resource - especially as you approach the upcoming holidays, family conversations, or the conspiracy spreading hotbeds that exist on social media. It's free, non-partisan, and has a wealth of information about how to practice news literacy (so you can apply this in your conversations with others about misinformation).
It even includes resources for teachers, students, and the general public to help increase news literacy.
With the constant news flow, it's easy to get overwhelmed and over-stressed. Conversations about important topics may break down completely based on which news sources are being consulted. In the past several years, this pattern is increasingly straining close relationships even amongst longtime friends and family, and making it harder and harder to create real progress toward change.
To get on the same page about why change is needed, what change is beneficial, and how change is possible, we need to be able to address the vast array of misleading and misrepresentative information that is circulating and creating additional harm.
My hope is you can add this to your toolbox so you feel even more empowered and prepared to engage in a way that feels hopeful and effective, even for the toughest of conversations.
My other hope is that you're getting some rest and taking good care of yourself.
You matter. You can make a difference. I'm so thankful you're here
