Honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. - NOT just today!
How is 2021 treating you so far? For many, nothing has changed except the date on the calendar.
Fortunately, we don't have to wait for another year to pass for a "fresh start.". We can pick any moment to change our perspective, take action with a new response, or learn something new and try again to make our corners of the world a more just place.
Whenever I get discouraged, I just imagine what is possible if each and every person who cares and feels deeply about injustice (e.g. people like you and me) keep trying to learn more and do better. If each and every one of us tries to connect with the people who are both similar and different from us in compassionate and respectful ways. If each and every one of us opens doors to new conversations.
Just imagine the ripple effects...
If every one of us is willing to take bold, authentic stances for the rights and well-being of others.
Today, whatever you're doing, pause a few moments and take in some of the real power of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s messages - in his own words and his own voice, along with a really well-written article holding us accountable.
His words are as true now as ever, and my wish is that they inspire us to be courageous in this and every day when justice and opportunities are not equal.
